Equipment
237/109hp six, Fluid Drive, hub caps and trim rings, Universal whitewalls, grille guard, suicide rear doors, bench seat, pushbutton radio, dash clock, robe rail.
Condition
#3 Good
Runs and drives well. Flaws not noticeable to passersby. Most common condition.
Restored 17 years ago. Dull old paint. Sound bumper chrome but the rest of the brightwork is original and dull. Small dents in the hub caps. Cracks in the steering wheel rim and cap. Old original dash. Good upholstery. Musty smelling interior. Restored underneath. An older restoration that was done on a budget to begin with and looks to have been sitting still for a while.
Market commentary
A luxury family taxi from the late 40's that's been given a surprisingly good restoration and preserved in fairly good condition. DeSoto was slotted between Dodge and Chrysler in the Fifties. It didn't take, and no one much remembers them, which accounts for the lack of interest in this commodious Suburban Sedan with its generous 139 1/2 inch wheelbase (a foot and a half longer than the standard DeSotos.) The new owner could have a generous party inside this Suburban and it has bragging rights even in this condition for its rarity.
