Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Original mid engined Lakester built by Bill Burke and run by Eddie Meyer engine builder Ray Brown. Flathead powered until 1961, then upgraded to a blown 301 Hemi. Custom oval tube frame, P38 Lightning belly tank, Halibrand quickchange, I O gearbox, (rusty) chromed suspension. Now fitted with 4 carb flathead. No rear suspension, transverse leaf, lever shock front from 37 Ford. Rear brakes only. Very original and in need of comprehensive attention, the thought of a pass at 260+mph in this thing is daunting..

Market commentary

The hot rod buyers must be waiting in Monterey to pay big bucks as neither of the impressively original lakesters offered here found new owners. Is it worth a hundred large Probably, even with the junk engine thats in it.
