Equipment
A neat little piece with envelope body by Castagna including an imaginative teardrop shaped hardtop that looks like a bicycle sprint racers helmet. Restored to a high standard, with excellent cosmetics. Described in the catalog as participating in the 1947 Mille Miglia but with indefinite attribution to either Ruffo Zunica (106) or Ghiringelli Galli (71). Comes with FIA papers.
Market commentary
Marked down by 20% since it was offered at Bonhams Quail Lodge auction in August and successfully closed post block after bidding stalled at $66K. Like all Fiat specials, it takes a leap of faith in the absence of a chain of ownership (which this car doesnt have) to accept any history. The buyer may have to rely on officials forbearance for event entries, something to which its risky to entrust $80,500.
