Equipment
RHD. Originally a Spyder Corsa raced by Farina at Bari in 1948, sold to Bianchetti and raced through 1949. Rebodied by Scaglietti in 1955 (one of Scaglietti's first Ferrari bodies) with this coachwork, engine believed to be a later Type 166.
Condition
Present owner since 1969, never restored, apparently never badly crashed and highly original. Tired old repaint with visible repairs and not used in a long, long time.
Market commentary
A well known and infrequently seen early Ferrari with Scuderia racing history, it needs comprehensive attention before being seriously used. The temptation to recreate the Spyder Corsa body is strong but better resisted as 014 I now has its own Scaglietti-bodied history and is much prettier than the botticella that skinned it originally. The bid is the bid; the owner wasn't sad to take it back to Pasadena.
