Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

RHD. Silver painted wire wheels, single aeroscreen, cycle fenders. Long, long history starting as a 126C, later upgraded to 166 by Ferrari before being sold to Gabriele Besana whose brother Soave bought 004C. Rebodied in the 50s with an envelope body which was replaced during restoration in the US in the 80s. Thoroughly shown and toured since as the first Ferrari sold to a private client. Sympathetic old restoration maintained in excellent condition, showing some use but deserving the term patina.

Market commentary

Reported a post block sale at Bonhams Gstaad Ferrari auction on December 20, 2002 for $761,838 (about $875,000 in current dollars.)
