Equipment
RHD. Quality restoration with excellent paint, chrome and interior. Excellent panel fits, even gaps. Very nicely done and impressive, particularly for a ten year old restoration. One of three built in this significant body style in 1942; two survive but only this one with its original engine. Looks better in person than in photos. Comes with invitations to both The Quail Motorsports Gathering and the Pebble Beach Concours in 2009. Pretty choice.
Market commentary
Rod Egan tried hard, very hard, to get this bid and the seller was astute to accept it. This is an unusual, attractive and important Touring body on the 2500 Sport chassis, but it has no history other than some member of the German Staff in Berlin. The price is a fair compromise among considerations of inherent value, condition, coachwork and drivetrain. Its a pretty neat car, though, and much more attractive than the conservative postwar 6C 2500 cabriolets.
