Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Fender skirts, whitewall tires. Eugene Beardslee collection.

Condition

Featured in 'The Godfather' movie's tollbooth scene when Sonny Corleone gets cut down by his father's rivals. Repainted and trimmed for the movie and retained as such ever since. Showing its age but far too cool an artifact to restore.

Market commentary

This is heroic money for a Continental Coupe, but not with this example's important movie role. An interesting side note is that this car and the Lincoln Custom Limousine that followed it, also used in 'The Godfather', were offered without reserve but with no cataloged estimates so the bidders could be free from any restraint they might experience had it been estimated at the $25,000-35,000 it would be worth without the movie history.
