Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

White steering wheel, whitewall tires, chrome wrapped inset rear spare. Reportedly origilly bought by Warner Bros for a Clark Gable, Mae West movie, then bought by Gable and given to a script girl. Eventually found by a Hungarian aristocrat ... in bad condition in a corner of a studio and restored but sold in 1990 after divorcing Princess Marischka von Scegedin. Then he went back to Hungary. Well restored and very presentable. Rolf Meyer collection.

Market commentary

This price is extravagant by any objective measure, an automobile of no particular distinction except for its rather bizarre story. If Gable gave it to a script girl how did it remain on the back of a movie lot to be discovered by the Count
