Equipment
RHD. Red wire wheels, single rear spare, outside head pipes, fog lights. Good paint and chrome. Both doors dont fit flush. Chassis is clean but not crispy. An aged restoration of a car that is burdened by coachwork that isnt particularly pretty, even if it is rare. First owned by Sir Max Aitken in the U.K., acquired in 1939 by D. Cameron Peck and recently displayed for over a decade in the A C D Museum in Auburn, Indiana. Restored in 1969 and again in 1995 with recent mechanical work and detailing.
Market commentary
Offered by RM at Meadow Brook in August, just under three months ago but an era in terms of economic conditions, where it was reported bid to $475,000 (GBP 240,600.) The pound has slumped significantly since then and todays $428,756 high bid is actually GBP 275,000, 35,000 more than the pound offer it fetched in August but short by nearly 50,000 greenbacks. Not surprisingly it didnt sell today, but the consignor should have given this offer serious consideration at a time when cash is king.
