Equipment
Just spectacular ... if unrestored original cars attract your attention. Two owners from new, owned by William S. Noble and his heirs from new until 1995; 15,118 miles, only 496 miles (21 of them since the catalog photos were taken) since Mr. Nobles death in 1954. Poor 40 year old repaint, new seat upholstery. Otherwise original, complete, clean and runs like a bear. 17 wheels with original discs. Original apple green paint visible on frame and inside fenders. One of only 10 SJNs (distinguished by channeled body, extended rear deck and skirted fenders), this is the only one factory fitted with the SJ supercharger and vault style door hinges.
Market commentary
Unsold on the block at this bid, later closed by RM, probably by giving up some of the commission. A worthy complement to RMs sale in Meadow Brook this summer of the Mudd Coupe, however in many ways this car is even more spectacular for its style, rarity and most of all originality. A true prize and time capsule that will be best served by a sympathetic and careful strip and repaint in its original color and little else. Its only ownership drawback is that every mile of thrilling driving will be noted by odometer hawks.
