Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Dual chrome wrapped sidemounts, chrome wire wheels, dual spotlights. One of three built. An excellent older (1959) restoration but now seriously showing its age. Wheel hub chrome flaking, cracks in paint, wavy fenders, interior shows wear and tear. Its now a great tour car but to show itll need a complete re do.

Market commentary

Pretty tired, but still beautiful and impressive. This is a recent record for a Duesenberg, exceeding even the $1.7 million hammer for the Mudd Coupe (resold here a year ago for $1.1 million hammer) achieved at Sothebys Rick Carroll sale in May 1990, and an indication that serious buyers still have deep pockets for the very best cars.
