Equipment
RHD. 3257cc/135hp, floor shift 4-speed, painted wire wheels (left front is blue, the rest are silver), suicide doors, woodrim steering wheel, Jarger gauges.
Condition
Formerly in the John Shakespeare collection, the Schlumpf collection, and the Mullin museum. In completely unrestored condition. Dirty and crusty everywhere. Blue paint flaking off and onto the running boards, and surface rust on the exposed parts of the body. Crunched left rear fender, presumably from a small collision. Left front and right rear window are horribly cracked. Rusty chassis. Filthy interior with worn through carpets, missing shift knob and worn steering wheel, but surprisingly sound seats. A project, but an enticing one for the right buyer.
Market commentary
And, hopefully the right buyer is the most recent one, as this Jean Bugatti-designed diamond in the rough is long overdue for a return to its former glory. It sold out of the Mullin Collection sale last year for $427,000, so this result is 53% lower. The new owner will not make their money back after all the work necessary but they can afford it, and this Bugatti deserves a restoration.
