Equipment
Black steel spoke wheels, whitewalls, dual sidemounts, footrests, jump seats, rollup divider, trunk rack. Superficial old restoration to nearly like new condition but now coming apart. Paint cracking at joints and mask lines, dull interior woodgraining, blistered wheel paint, fair chrome, good but aged upholstery. Dull chassis shows age and use. First delivered to Korea, then in Japan through WWII where it was discovered in 1980. Cosmetically restored New Zealand and museum displayed. Recently mechanically renewed by Brian Joseph.
Market commentary
Offered by Bonhams at Quail Lodge in 2008, then sold by them at Brookline a few months later for $76,050. This Pierce has potential, but its present condition, compromised origility and the formal coachwork limit its appeal or potential value. The reported high bid is not sufficient to pry it from its current owners hands, but is a reasoble offer for what its going to cost to realize its potential.
