Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Black painted wire wheels, dual enclosed sidemounts with chrome covers. First owned by Mrs. Howard Marmon, later by D. Cameron Peck. Already an AACA Senior winner, it was concours restored in 1989 by Steve Babinsky and went on to be a Pebble Beach class winner in 1989 followed by more AACA ribbons through 1992. Seventeen years later it still looks like a concours winner. Dr. Barbara Mae Atwood Collection. No Reserve.

Market commentary

Spectacular in both specifications and presentation, this Marmon Sixteen has an impeccable provenance and a champions presence. The price it brought here may reflect the markets judgment, but it is inherently one of the finest examples of engineering and design from the classic era and by any standard a whole lot of automobile for the money.
