Equipment
First and foremost this Duesenberg SJ is an original supercharged SJ which retains its original engine and chassis. The original owner had its Derham Convertible Sedan modified by Ike Walton after a few years and had Walton also build a second open 2 seat boattail body. When it was acquired by Bill Harrah in October 1958 he commissioned Maurice Schwartz, formely a partner in Bohman & Schwartz, to build this magnificent near twin to the famous Weymann Speedster. Jerry J. Moore acquired it at one of the Harrahs disposition auctions in 1985 for the fabulous sum of $600,000 and later had it restored in its present Black livery with chrome wire wheels, flexible head pipes, dual spotlights, chrome enclosed headlights, chrome stone shields on the teardrop rear fenders and Pilot Ray driving lights. The history is unbroken from new and its provenance includes two of the most important Duesenberg collectors, William Harrah and Jerry J. Moore. It is one of the best known and most attractive designs and rides on the singularly famous and powerful supercharged Duesenberg SJ chassis and drivetrain. Its coachbuilder, Maurice Schwartz, is one of the acknowledged masters of custom coachbuildings latter years.
