Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

The Ricky Nelson Roadster built by Ray DeFillipi and later modified by Tony LaMasa. Featured on Ozzie and Harriet and in many magazines. 56 Chevy V8 with 4 bbl carb, 3 speed, capped header cutouts, lowered, channeled, wide whitewalls on steel wheels with hubcaps and trim rings, nerf bars, cycle fenders, billet knobs. Restored by Don Oroscos shop in 97, trophy winner at Pebble Beach that year. Chromed and polished within an inch of its life but showing some age.

Market commentary

Historic, period hot rods are the hottest thing in car collecting these days and bring truly impressive prices. This channeled Deuce was Bonhams top selling lot in Monterey this year. Big money for an historic car thats distinctively different from the popular highboys and priced responsibly in todays market.
