Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Sleeve valve 255-cid 87-hp six-cylinder. Body-color wire wheels, blackwall tires, dual sidemounts with cloth covers and mirrors, windwings, rumble seat, luggage trunk, Trippe lights, Operation and Care Manual.

Condition

Fresh paint over an old restoration. Grimy chassis. Rusty nails holding the top to the frame but the material is claimed to be, and probably is, original. Sound major chrome, pitted side mirrors. Dull instrument panel. Probably just four owners since new.

Market commentary

The desirability and rarity of this Plaidside Roadster (one of only 13 known survivors) cannot offset its unattractive condition which, having been restored, is no longer 'preservation' eligible. It has potential to be much better, but only after an expensive restoration. The bid here accurately reflects potential, condition and realistic cost projections to make it into a $200K car.
