Equipment
Lefthand drive. Dual sidemounts, dual windshields, skirts, luggage trunk. Sound but aged older restoration. The factory experimental and development car, but not with this body, which was built for its first private owner, J. Eskdale, in 1933. Modified by Frank Cooke with roller tappets and overdrive. Interesting and unusual coachwork with cutdown front doors, rear wheel skirts and a bulky trunk sticking out the back like a nineteenth century ladys bustle. Good paint. Front seats creased; rear seats show little use. Chassis shows miles but is clean and well maintained. Not running, and nothing if not odd looking.
Market commentary
Sold for $238,000 at the Frank Cooke auction in Massachusetts in 2006 but the Cooke collection auctions enthusiasm, and his importance in U.S. Rolls Royce history, has been lost in its translation back to the U.K. It is something of a bargain in this transaction.
