Equipment

RHD.Folding windshield, center driving light, radiator stone guard, dual rear spares, lighted rear license plate light, Black wire wheels, dual spotlight mirrors. Typical European restoration with dull paint, good older interior, good chrome. Claimed to be the first Scuderia Ferrari car, owned and raced by Luigi Scarfiotti in the 1930 Mille Miglia, sixth in 1931, possibly raced at Le Mans in 1932 by Siko Charavel (4th overall, 1st in class). Represented as all origil including most of its bodywork, matching numbers and looks impressive. Fine early Scuderia Ferrari markings on interl engine parts. Memini DOA carb, crudely welded gas tank. Inner body panels painted grey covering any age and work marks. Hood piano hinges are new. Otherwise hard to tell. Represented as only two Italian owners since the Scarfiotti family; found in a Maranello attic in 1998. Includes documentation from the Scarfiotti family.

Market commentary

Sold for exactly the same hammer bid at the Worldwide auction at Keels & Wheels in Seabrook, Texas in 2005 with some subsequent expert inspections, documentation and research. Bought here entirely reasobly for what it is and its very usable old Italian restoration. This is a modest price to pay for an historic Alfa that may be the first Scuderia Ferrari car and which is welcome at just about any event or tour in the world.
