Equipment
Chrome wire wheels, dual chrome wrapped sidemounts, Pilot Rays, dual remote spotlights, Jaeger chronometer.
Condition
Originally a Murphy Convertible Sedan, restored with this body in the 1950s with its rumble seat and very low top and windshield. 36,573 miles on the odometer said to be actual. Greenwich and Burn Foundation trophy winner. Identified by Elbert as fitted with engine J150 from new. Freshly serviced. Dull aluminum, aged paint with some flaws and developing little blisters. Rusty door hinges. Sound but aged upholstery. Definitely aged and used but very handsome.
Market commentary
The age of the cosmetics on this very attractive Duesenberg had a moderating effect on the bidders' enthusiasm. The buyer got a very unusual, very attractive car for a relatively modest price and should be very satisfied with this transaction.
