Equipment
RHD. alloy wheels, single sidemount, single aeroscreen, Marchal head lights, no fenders, stoneguard, electric starter, taillights, electric cooling fan, Type 40 rear axle. Present history begins in the late 60s when it was owned by a Dr. Esslinger in London. Had a Bologna, Italy license plate under the seat when it was found. Combined with the real parts from a replica with the same number which was then reassembled and sold to a Mexican collection. Restored by Bob Smith Coachworks in the early 90s, invited to Pebble Beach and still in nearly show quality condition with only slight ageing.
Market commentary
The combination of Grand Prix history and 2 seat coachwork with Bugattis 1 1 2 liter supercharged engine make this one of the most adaptable of all collector cars from the period. The models history makes it eligible for just about anything its owner wants to attend, and at this money it is a very modestly priced entry ticket, particularly for one so well restored and maintained as this.
