Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Knight 6cyl sleeve valve 20.7hp engine. Older restoration, but in excellent show condition, very attractive yellow and black body mounted on an orange chassis with orange spoke wheels. Falcon Kinghts were built for 15 month period starting in 1927. This car was a special order for Jim Howe, the inventor of Tums. Displayed in 1953 Greenfield Village AACA show, and then donated to National Museum of Transportation in 1966 where it was displayed until 1979. Offered at no reserve.

Market commentary

The successful bidder left with a unique example of American automotive history. We observed this car in 2003 at Kruses Fall Auburn sale when a high bid of $27,500 was refuse. Obviously the market for such a car is very specialized and tiny.
