122 cubic inch supercharged Miller eight, 3 speed transaxle, single seat body, 4 wheel brakes. Built for Jimmy Murphy and known as the outboard brake, 2 car. Fourteen time Indy 500 entrant with various engines including 121 Miller and Brisko Little Six, best finish of 6th in 1929 driven by Dave Evans with Thane Houser as riding mechanic. Acquired by Dave Uihlein from Ed Trager as the Boxar Special. Brisko engine and body sold to Mark Dees and rebuilt as a single seater with supercharged 122 Miller around what appear to be the origil hand formed frame rails by Peter Shaw in the UK with body by Joe Silnes. Market commentary
This is a singularly important piece of American oval racing history, as real and significant as just about any racing car of this age and such a long history. The history itself is amazing. The car is a work of art. No longer fresh, it is still worth every penny of the fairly modest price paid for it here.
