Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Dual sidemounts, outside exhaust head pipes. LHD. Many parts in boxes A potentially very rewarding restoration project and a handsome car. Believed to be one of only two Mercedes bodied by Murphy. Restoration started many years ago and stored in partially assembled condition since Sergio Franchi died. Supercharged engine runs and the car drives. Body stripped to bare aluminum, brightwork needs attention and interior is in tatters. Other than that, apparently it is all there and should be a fairly straightforward restoration. Sergio Franchi Collection.

Market commentary

Close, but no cigar. There was money on this Mercedes but not enough to get Sergios widow Eva to let it go. Its a very special piece that deserves to be restored and enjoyed. It would be a sound value at this price.
