Equipment
RHD. Black wire wheels, Marchal lights, dual sidemounts. Owned by Ettore Bugatti and the Bugatti family from 1926 until 1963 when it was bought by GP driver Maurice Trintignant, later sold to Count Frederic Chandon in 1973 for whom it was restored by Chapron. Acquired by Jean Alesi in 2003. Well preserved but also driven and enjoyed, an elegant and usable Ghost with highly unusual provenance and accompanied by its original Ettore Bugatti carte grise registration document.
Market commentary
Thirty five years ago Christies sold this Rolls Royce in Geneva for CHF 18,375 ($44,101 at the time). This restoration dates from just after that sale and is still in very attractive and presentable condition. This is a generous price for a Million Guiet bodied 24 Ghost, valuing the Bugatti provenance and excellent preservation about as much as the car itself, a conclusion which is impossible to dispute.
