Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

RHD. Chrome spoke wire wheels, dual spotlights, radiator stoneguard, Bosch lighting. Soiled top. Chrome brightwork, clamshell fenders. Beautifully presented and carefully detailed. Excellent paint, interior, chrome and wood. Owned by Kirk Gibson, then Ben Moser and Ted Jameson for whom it was restored in the early 90s. Still spectacular in both condition and impression.

Market commentary

The catalog estimated this car at $300 400K, a sensible range since it was purchased in May 2003 at Bonhams Brookline auction for $245,900. Its history is exceptiol, as its preservation, but this is no supercharged S and why the estimate was pumped up to $1.3 1.4 million at the auction and a bid three times what was paid for it was turned down is inexplicable.
