Equipment
Black wire wheels, Blackwall tires, nickel Bausch & Lomb drum headlights, folding steering wheel, jump seats, folding footrest, dual cowl with locking storage compartments. Rudge Whitworth centerlock wire wheels. Cracking old repaint, rot in panels between doors. Engine is all there but long neglected. Even has its drip pans. Black painted windshield frame typical of dowdy Henry Leland. Lever shocks. Rear wheel brakes. Very original. Sound body. Doors close well, even gaps. Temporary license plate from Argentina indicates it was never registered and helps support the idea that the 469 miles showing on its odometer may be real. Doesnt run (and probably hasnt for half a century.)
Market commentary
Bidding opened at $20,000 which meant absolutely nothing and it eventually tore right through the high estimate. It is an intriguing and very original old piece, a contender in any Preservation Class and a very interesting old car as well. It is not cheap at this price, but with its history it is not unreasonable, either.
