Originally built to Alpine Eagle specifications, delivered to India, displayed in Calcutta and bought by the Maharajah of Charkhari. Rebodied for the Maharajah by Barker with this polished aluminum Torpedo Phaeton coachwork in 1926, replacing the earlier similar style coachwork by Hooper. Restored in 1995 followed by class wins at the RROC National Meet, Meadow Brook, Amelia Island and Pebble Beach. Unused since 2007 and no longer fresh but still an eye opening example. John M. OQuinn estate.
Market commentary
This is an automobile with presence, complemented by its attractive open Barker coachwork and all the appeal of a Silver Ghost. It brought a reasonable price here, even though it set John OQuinn back a far over estimate ($275 350,000) $511,500 when he bought it here in Arizona in 2007.
