Equipment
RHD. Prominently marked Do Not Detail and appropriately, too. First delivered to Jean St. Cyr, bought from his estate by the seller in 1967 and nearly completely origil. Crumpled left front fender, dual sidemounts, rumble seat and two folding seats that slide out from what look like golf bag doors. Green brass showing through the nickel. Looks like its been painted once, long ago, at least on the green. Torn origil leather. Recently serviced after storage since 1937 and now runs and drives but looks untouched since before Pearl Harbor. Amazing.
Market commentary
This wonderful example of correct preservation caught the attention of the bidders. No doubt all of them were imagining standing with it on the Pebble Beach lawn in 2009s Preservation Class which is exactly that should happen. Call it $200,000 for the car and $229,000 for the chance at this and other show field appearances.
