Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

RHD. 2 seat open wheel body, dual rear spares, Peugeot pattern dohc 4 cylinder 4 valve 3,255cc engine, 4 speed gearbox. A known entity from about 1930 although not in this configuration, assembled around the engine and other period pieces and generally accepted as being based on one of the 1914 Sunbeam Tourist Trophy team cars. Nicely mellowed older restoration, little used but recently re commissioned and reliably driven on the Isle of Man TT course.

Market commentary

Few enough real race cars of the pre WWI period survive that any car holding a candle to the term authentic is worth a bundle. Louis Coatalens Sunbeams were race winners and the passion to own one of only a few likely survivors of the period is reflected in this price. Itll get its new owner an entry anywhere and has a history of its own. Opening the hood is a visual delight. It is expensive but it is nonpareil.
