Equipment
RHD. Jump seats, sliding divider with communication porthole, pullup rear windows, double Elliott speedometer and odometer. Alpine Eagle chassis. Later electric starter. Origil UK registration P 6, later registered YWM 785. Continuous ownership from Stanley Shaw Bond for whom it was built. Never restored and only the front seat covering has been replaced although the current dull black body paint appears to have been applied over the origil paint. Absolutely sound. Origil rear compartment upholstery is sound and complete although somewhat tender. A real prize of impeccable history and outstanding condition. 2005 Pebble Beach FIVA Award for best preserved pre war car.
Market commentary
The coachwork is frumpily formal and having appeared last year at Pebble Beach its potential as a preservation class show car has been compromised. Aside from that, it is a wonderful piece of Rolls Royce history that brought a reasoble price. To the right collector who cherishes origil cars it is a bargain.
