Market commentary
Sold by Sotheby's at the Paul Mosier sale in Solvang in 1993 for $134,500 in unrestored, original and deteriorated condition. After restoration it was sold by Gooding & Company at Pebble Beach in 2007 from the Richard Solove collection for a hugely generous $1,155,000, then five years later by RM at the Arizona Biltmore for $550,000 and three years after that at Hershey in 2015 for $577,500. If there was money anywhere close to the reported bid here it should have moved on in a heartbeat.
