Market commentary
If there is any American marque from the Brass era that has vaulted into collectors' favor it is the American in its Underslung configuration. When sold from the Brownings' collection at Christie's Pebble Beach auction in 2000 it brought $105,000. Now in somewhat better mechanical condition, this result is in line with other recent Underslung results. A dramatic, imposing, wonderful automobile it is worth every one of the many pennies it brought.
