Market commentary
This Ghost has not fared well since it was sold to John O''Quinn from the Richard Solove Collection at Gooding''s Pebble Beach auction in 2007 for the awesome price of $1,870,000 (GBP 938,600 at the time.) RM offered it at Monterey in 2010 with a reported high bid of $800,000; Gooding tried again at Pebble Beach in 2011 where there was no visible bidding interest. Brought to London by RM it can best be characterized as having gone away at this price, just GBP 275,000 hammer and GBP 308,000 with commission. John O''Quinn made a number of over zealous acquisitions, but this may be one of the most egregious.
