Equipment
One of three 75 horse models believed extant. Needs the works, including fixing chopped chassis and finding correct body, but bristling with potential to become one of the most valuable American antique cars. Very much a work in progress, with the prospect of many happy hours sourcing unique parts and having made those that have disappeared forever. Ted Jameson collection.
Market commentary
Estimates were woefully low. We figured at least $200,000 but the selling price well exceeded that. Hot and heavy bidding all the way, filly sold to Massachusetts collector who has no regrets for the price paid; believed it would be the only chance hed get for a 75hp Simplex, and hes probably not wrong. High horsepower brass is perhaps the hottest field in collecting today.
