Equipment

RHD. Nickel trim. P&H headlights, Boa constrictor horn with bell trumpet, umbrella for footmen, no windshield. Quality older restoration with good paint, interior and chrome except for some paint cracks on the bodywork. One of the cars Rolls Royce built for the Delhi Durbar when King George V and Queen Mary came to India after his coronation. Acquired by the Maharaja of Mysore, rebodied in Bombay with this formal parade body which is one of best known of all Silver Ghosts. Featured in 20 Silver Ghosts. 1994 Pebble Beach class winner. Prior owners include James Leake, Raymond Lutgert, Millard Newman and Richard Solove. John M. OQuinn estate.

Market commentary

A post block sale at the World Classic (Rick Cole) auction in Monterey in 1993 for $525,000. Sold at Pebble Beach in 2007 by Gooding for $990,000 from the featured Solove collection and one of the most widely featured and recognized Silver Ghosts. This result is more reasonable than what John OQuinn paid for it.
