Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

An extremely rare and important automobile originally registered in France in 1911 and nearly completely original. 6.8 liter 50hp 4 cylinder. One of only two American Simplexes and the only Amplex known to survive. Old 2 seat taper tail bodywork with flared fenders, possibly French origin and original to the chassis. Some work has been done to the engine, otherwise aged and original, missing radiator cap, seat cushions, headlamps and rear deck lid. Otherwise complete and in remarkably sound condition. Engine turns over. An extraordinary find in need of sympathetic restoration but sure to be a show standout.

Market commentary

You have to respect the bidders opinion on this Amplex, although with some research and restored to concours condition it will be a show stopper. A project that is not for the faint of heart.
