RHD. 471 cubic inch inline 4 cylinder, 4 speed, double chain drive. Warner speedometer, Warren clock, Rushmore acetylene headlights, Gray & Davis kerosene sidelights and taillight. Rubes bulb horn, Solar acetylene generator, single right side spare, jump seats. Double chain drive. Continuous history from new. Displayed at the Chicago Auto Show, sold to J. Ervin Smith, President of the Continental tiol Bank in Indiapolis, and stayed in his family until 1944 when Clarence Myer bought it. It was restored for the next owner, Dr. Sam Scher, in the 60s and a 1962 AACA tiol First Prize winner. Subsequent owners were Richard Paine, Charles Lemaitre and Joel Finn. Black tires on 37 Green painted wheels. An exceptiolly fine, carefully preserved old car, one of only two Locomobile Type Is known to survive. No Reserve. Otis Chandler Collection.
Market commentary
This is an outstanding automobile and although the age of its restoration is showing it is in much better condition than the forty some years since it was restored for Dr. Scher would indicate. The buyer got a great high horsepower touring car of the highest quality and impeccable provence for a very reasoble price.
