Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

RHD. Full elliptical loaf springs front and rear, contracting band rear wheel and driveshaft brakes, Rubes trumpet bulb born. Wooden chassis. Jones speedo shows 1,335 miles. Solar acetylene headlights and kerosene sidelights and taillight. A very clean, complete, sound and original car with new front seat and rear seat cushion upholstery. Repainted long ago. Chassis is old, dirty and original. So is the engine and drivetrain. Original top is tattered and threadbare. Not running but complete in all important respects.

Market commentary

This Franklin is one of the better values in the Paine collection auction, a high quality, overhead intake valve touring car with abundant accessories and equipment. It also is surprisingly and sympathetically original and while it needs comprehensive attention before it can be driven and enjoyed when it is done it will be a rare and enjoyable conversation piece.
