Equipment
RHD. Jones tach, Warner speedo, 4 speed, dual rear spares. Several late 90s European event stickers. Chipped, worn and well used but sound and all there. Resurrected from a fire damaged collection and restored for Joel Finn in the late 60s, sold to Harrahs and the object of some contention about its origins but apparently successfully resolved between Finn and the Harrah Collection. Sold during the Harrahs disposition. Runs like a raped ape according to one who has experienced its performance. Possibly driven by Harry Grant in the 1909 and 1910 Vanderbilt Cup races. At least parts of it may have been in those or similar races.
Market commentary
Theres a lot of controversy about this car. To say the least. However its still a really old Locomobile that has its own history over the last 40+ years. It goes real fast and shoots flames out its stub exhaust pipes. A thundering monster, it is an ownership experience that is worth every penny of the amount reportedly bid, or even the low estimate. Gary Wales 1919 American LaFrance Speed Car La Bestioni brought $167,400 a year ago, with no history at all. $350,000 for this beast would adequately hedge its bitsa ness.
