Equipment
RHD. Triple Elliot, nickel trim, Lucas King of the Road head and side lights, jump seats, dual windshields. An older restoration with some miles on it that was never up to U.S. show standards. New frame and much of the running gear, accurate 4 speed gearbox with overdrive 4th. Paint chipped off under fenders from gravel spatter. Sound and usable as is, though. Three rows of fixed seats plus jump seats. Body originally on a Mercedes chassis. One of only four known 1908 Rolls Royces, restored from the engine found in Australia and not much else. John M. OQuinn estate.
Market commentary
Sold at Pebble Beach by Gooding & Company from Richard Soloves Silver Ghost collection in 2007 for $1,430,000, an OQuinnly optimistic price for an assembled Silver Ghost with ex Mercedes coachwork. This result makes much more sense.
