Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

RHD. An older restoration that is aged and neglected but sound. Some cosmetic attention and mechanical work will return it to presentable and drivable condition. VCC dated 1904 and a multiple Brighton Runner.

Market commentary

Twenty Five Thousand pounds (or Forty Large in todays US$) seems to be the going rate for a Brighton crock. The Sharpes brought a large assortment of them to this auction and they did uniformly well, no doubt having attracted just about everyone in England who fancied participating in The Brighton Run to Rayleigh for a chance to realize their dream. This Pope Tribune is one of the less expensive. Its one lung power promises prolonged exposure to the elements, thus proving its drivers devotion, if not sense enough to come in out of the cold rain.
