Auction Recap: Mecum Denver 2015

Mecum concluded its first ever two-day sale in Denver, Colo., on June 27 with a sales total of $11,761,200. Out of the 638 offered for sale, 389 lots sold for a sell-through rate of 61 percent, and the average sale price was $30,234.

Denver didn’t attract any extreme high-dollar cars, but there was of course a solid showing of American muscle and the top sales were mostly what they were expected to be. A 2012 Lamborghini Aventador took the highest result at $285,000, while a 1969 Ram Air IV Trans Am took a market appropriate $180,000 and a 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster took a relatively low $165,000. A 1967 Porsche 911 S Soft Window Targa also got a low result for a very desirable and normally strong-performing model at $130,000. Some of the bigger no-sales included a 1969 Dodge Super Bee that was bid to $150,000 and a 1970 Plymouth Superbird that stalled at $125,000.

Some of the bargains to be found in Denver included a 1955 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday Coupe for $12,500, a 1969 AMC AMX 390 for $23,000 and a 1968 Pontiac GTO for $16,500.
