I fell in love with this wonderful woman sitting on the porch of this cabin and riding around in a 1974 Mustang II when the car was new. How wonderful it is that all three are still around. One lucky guy.
We live on a Tennessee farm that has been in the family for over 150 years. My wife's mother and eight brothers and sisters were raised in the pictured cabin that sets in what is now our front yard. My original 1974 Mustang II Ghia was a high school graduation present that we dated in during high school and college. The cabin was a favorite place to walk and be alone, together.
As happens with many first cars and first girls, they get away but second chances are wonderful. The girl came first, then, reminiscing, I searched for a 1974 Mustang II Ghia like my first car and I found this beautiful survivor in Texas with only 25000 miles about five years ago. Riding around in it, we are 18 all over again.
The Mustang is a real head turner. One of the most frequent things we hear from admirers is, "Wow, I had a Mustang II and ...!" Like my original, this one is equipped with the German engineered V-6, the largest engine available in the 74's due to the impending oil embargo, full cut-pile carpeting, color keyed deluxe velour upholstery, factory air, power steering, power brakes, rear-window defroster, bumper guards, dual sport racing mirrors, full console, padded vinyl roof, light group, sound group, fully carpeted trunk, etc.
Its amazing how many people have never seen the 1974-1978 Mustang II's and how many do not know that but for the success of these Mustangs there might not now be any Mustangs. Still loving the girl and the car after all these years. Did I mention that I also had a Chihuahua as a kid and that I have another one now? Perhaps its a second childhood thing. Life is good!
