Yesterday, we posted about our 1967 GTO HO 4 speed car, today I want to share the story of her twin. She has power steering, brakes, and power convertible top. She is all numbers matching from front to back with a his and hers shifter. She even has her original jack and spare with all her original body panels. She is a one owner car with 40,000 original miles. I really lucked into finding this beauty. I received a phone call from a friend who was the president of one of the local GTO clubs in Arizona. He told me about a guy he knew who had one week to sell his convertible. Unfortunately for the guy, he was going through a divorce and was told by the judge that if he didn't sell the car in one week, he was going to give it to the wife. I asked some of the guys from their local chapter to go inspect the car for me. They took 3 hours going over it and put it up on a lift. They ran all the numbers and found that it was 1 of 3 made with gold interior. The president of the chapter told me that if I did not buy the car, he would. I arranged to have the car shipped to Illinois in an enclosed trailer. My whole life I had wanted 1 1967 GTO, but fate has brought the twins into my life. Please note the plates, one antique, one regular, match.
