Before I bought my Z, I had a very nice 1965 Corvette. Two years after I sold the Corvette, I was wanting another sports car and decided on an early Z-car. I found a one-owner 1972 240 Z in 1982 and bought it. It was mechanically sound but cosmetically compromised. My 8-year old son cried when he saw it. After some new upholstery and paint, he was ok with it. Even though I really liked the car, I was used to a bit more power. I decided to do an engine/transmission swap. In 1987, I went with a 350 Chevy and T-5 5-speed transmission. The car has been great ever since. In 1995 I drove the car over 800 miles each way to the national Z convention at Road Atlanta. While there, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. K and getting a personally autographed Z print from him. Also, it was great to get to drive my Z at Road Atlanta. In 2013, I decided it was time for refreshing. I completely disassembled the car, had body work and repainting done, and replaced all rubber, bushings, etc. The car is now over 40 years old, and it should be good to go as long as I am. It's really a fun car. I love the Z styling, and the early Z's are very rare around here these days.
