When I was in the 11th grade I bought a used 1962 Corvair Monza with a 4 speed transmission. I added custom split bumpers, wire cages over the head lights, headers, special low resistant mufflers with cut-outs, an adapter to raise the pivot point of the transmission shifter, I drilled out the carburetor jets, added baby moon hubs with beauty rings, I covered the dash with wood grain contact paper and I added a reverberator and rear seat speakers to the radio. I flat shifted and spun the tires every chance I got. I had this car for 4 years, 2 years of high school & 2 years of college. This car took every beating I gave it and kept on going. When I went into the Navy I had my parents put it up for sale, what a mistake that was. I have the fondest memories of that car, dating my wife taking her to the prom and visiting her in college, driving in snow when everyone else was stuck.
