Dave B 1960 Chevrolet Corvair 700 4dr Sedan

Had that Corvair for 5 days!!

It's was in 1968! I was 21! It was the best of times and the worst of times! I had a spotless bright red 66 Dodge Charger and I was ridin high. One night, when I unwisely imbibed a little too much I asked my new girlfriend to drive. Little did I know that she (at 18) had NEVER gotten a license. Long story short, she put us in and out of a ditch several times and demolished my super ride. Being desperate, I found a 60 Corvair for $50 to have wheels. The previous owner apparently put a rear seal in backwards and it leaked oil bad. Several nites later a GTO pulled up by me and shouted "your car is on fire!!" !!! It threw a belt and got HOT HOT HOT!!! Having no quick answer I saw it burn!! Two cars to the junk yard in ONE week!! Just young and in love.....I guess??

Yes, the Corvairs had the one serpentine belt and the configuration was such that they would get eaten up badly just in regular use...once they are gone...well it is an air cooled engine...
