Last August the wife and I were attending the US 12 statewide garage sale. At one of the stops a man had a 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger for sale in the front yard. I took a bunch of pictures and commented to my wife how I'd love to have that car. Many moons ago I had a 70 Dart in High School. Anyway, we continued on with the garage sales but the whole time my mind was racing trying to figure out how I could get that car. On the way home we discussed the car and I ultimately came to the conclusion that I really didn't NEED it and I should just pass on it.
For the next 2 weeks I was constantly thinking about the car. One day my wife comes out to the garage and asks me why I've been so down lately. I told her that I really regretted not buying the Dart. My wife is a wonderful person and she say's to me, "well call him and see if he still has it for sale". I didn't give her time to change her mind. I made the call immediately as I still had the number in my cell phone directory.
So, the guy answers and I tell him who I am and he says that the car is still for sale but he has a guy coming at 4 p.m. to look at it. Without hesitation I told him I could be there by 2 p.m. The guy says come on up take it for a drive. Wifey and I jump in the car and made the 30 min trip in like 18 min. The Dart was a real cream puff. The body was in really good shape and the interior was in nearly new condition. The car had been parked for 24 years in a climate controlled garage. Even though it had a slant 6 in it I still wanted it.
I told the guy that I could be back in an hour with the money in hand. All he said was "Money talks", get here before the 4 p.m. looker shows up. Well, I made it back by 3:20 p.m.with the money and now "Fiona" the Dart is mine. My wife loves the car too and is OK with me having another woman in my life, as long as its Fiona.
