My dad passed away when I was just 15. We had rebuilt the engine in his 1951 Plymouth station wagon. The body was rusted thru on the front floorboards like most Chicago old cars in 1961. He drove it to California in 1959 so I knew the drivetrain was good. During the Indy 500 of 1961 I replaced the front floor with the sheet metal of an old washing machine. It got me around for the next 2 years of High School. It ended up in the local auto junk yard and Louie used it to store good chrome pieces off other cars.
